Why We Support the Lebanese Red Cross - And Why You Should Too | Yalla Nour

The Lebanese Red Cross is Lebanon's most trusted emergency responder. In 2024 alone, they responded to over 40,000 emergency calls, operated 45 ambulance stations, and served hundreds of thousands of displaced Lebanese. Here is why Yalla Nour is proud to fund their work.

Why We Support the Lebanese Red Cross - And Why You Should Too

When the Beirut port exploded on August 4, 2020, killing over 200 people and injuring thousands, it was the Lebanese Red Cross that arrived first. When floods devastate a village in the north. When a family is trapped in a burning building in the south. When a child needs an ambulance in the middle of the night - it is the Lebanese Red Cross that answers the call.
In a country where the state has largely collapsed, the Lebanese Red Cross has become the backbone of emergency response. And they are doing it with almost no government support.

2024: A Year of Unprecedented Crisis
The 2024 conflict placed extraordinary demands on the Lebanese Red Cross. According to their published response data, they:
- Responded to over 40,000 emergency calls during the conflict period
- Evacuated and assisted hundreds of thousands of displaced persons
- Operated emergency blood collection drives to meet surging hospital demand
- Deployed rapid response teams to conflict-affected areas in the south and Bekaa

The Funding Crisis
The Lebanese Red Cross relies almost entirely on donations. With Lebanon's economic collapse, local donations have dried up dramatically. International funding has been inconsistent. The organization is operating on a shoestring budget while demand for its services has never been higher.
The Lebanese Red Cross has been vocal about this funding gap - and it is precisely why Yalla Nour stepped in to help.

Why Yalla Nour Partners with the Red Cross
When we vet NGO partners, we look for three things: efficiency, transparency, and impact. The Lebanese Red Cross scores at the top on all three.
They have a proven track record spanning decades. They publish transparent financial and operational reports. Their impact is measurable, verifiable, and independently audited. They are non-sectarian and non-political - values that align directly with Yalla Nour's own mission.
